For to start over new, uninstall the sound card software, uninstall the sound card hardware in Control Panel, System, etc, Device Manager and all related with the Game Port. Video games, music software, etc. Because probably these programs have a wrong configuration. You will be without sound during a short while. But it worths if you want to use the old Game Port with you MIDI keyboard in Vista.

But leave connect and on the MIDI keyboard to the Game Port. Restart the computer and be sure that everything related to the Game Port is on in the BIOS. Save changes and exit.

If you have more sound cards in the pc, PERHAPS you don't need uninstall them, BUT I HAD TO DO IT. Just leave them disabled in the Device Manager and in the Volume of the Taskbar.

Now you have to add new hardware manually inside of Vista.

Turn on the computer, open Control Panel,> System Maintenance,> System,> Device Manager,> Add legacy hardware and search manually with the wizard. Click on "Sound, video and game controllers" and "Next". Search "Generic" > "Unsupported Standard Game Port" and click on "Next". And now you will have one installed on Vista. Now you have to repeat the same searching Media Vision, and again if you find you sound card in the list, save changes and exit from Device Manager.

Now use the new and free version of Regcleaner or similar, and do a safe and clean registry saving a backup of the things that Regcleaner Change or erase.

You need to have the internet connection working and on and you should see a message of Vista saying that the sound card is disabled and that found new hardware, etc.

If you have a disc, copy it to the hard drive OR TRY TO GET THE DRIVER FILE FROM THE WEBSITE OF THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE IF IT IS .ISO EVERYTHING WILL BE MORE COMPLICATED.

ALSO YOU NEED A DRIVER VERSION OF YOU SOUND CARD FOR Win Xp, NOT FOR VISTA. If you only have the disc that came with the sound card, use it but as last option. AND PROBABLY WILL NOT WORK IS THE DRIVER OF YOU SOUND CARD IS FOR VISTA BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE DRIVER FOR THE GAME PORT IS NOT INCLUDED, BECAUSE IS A OBSOLETE DEVICE.

(In the driver for Vista of my sound card it's not included)

Locate the driver file of the sound card in the folder in where you placed, right click in the mouse, and set on the compatibility mode for Win Xp. Now Vista knows that you sound card is a little obsolete.

Install the driver saying to Vista that search the drivers online first. Now Vista will search the drivers for the sound card and for the Game Port too. (It takes many minutes), and if it fault, (Perhaps you sound card is older that my granma) install the driver of the sound card manually following the steps that appears in the screen. When done, Choose you configuration in the Volume of the Taskbar and install a program with an easy configuration and try the MIDI keyboard. If you heard sound, you did it right. If not.... Sorry by now.

This forum is new and under construction. I will write more tomorrow. Thanks for you patience.
